Bagpiper, Color Guard, and Sheriff's Posse



The Bagpiper, Drummer and Boy Scout Troup 188 Color Guard. Phil Walker, historian, author and talk show host is indicating where they are be positioned. In the background people are walking the ruts of the Overland Trail to the Dedication Site, very near the teepee rings. The Sheriff's Posse is also traveling along the ruts of the Overland Trail to the ceremony site, off to the left. This photo is looking south toward the "Horseshoe," a camping area used by many emigrants.

In a letter dated August 11, 2000, Sheriff Jim Alderden writes: "It was an honor to be able to participate in this exciting and historic event. Larimer County is rich in history and this ceremony was a fantastic tribute to that history."
