Costs of Goods and Supplies

In the spring of 1865, the costs of provisions in and around Denver had skyrocketed.* Here are some examples:
  • Flour: $20 per hundred
  • Potatoes: $15 per bushel
  • Corn: $10 per bushel
  • Beef: 40 cents per pound
  • Ham: 50 cents per pound
  • Eggs: $1.50 per dozen
  • Hay: $100 per ton
  • Wood: $75 per cord
  • Lumber: $200 per thousand
  • Wagon and team: $25 per day
