The classic train photo.
A train coming around a curve into a straighwaway. This August 2000
photo has a lone CSX GP38-2, number 2798, and a single boxcar approaching
Farmingdale. |
|
Same day as above.
I like this photo as the train is in the shadows cast by the trees. |
|
After leaving the shadows,
the train prepares to cross Route 524/547 in Farmingdale. |
|
After allowing a crew
member to throw the switch, the locomotive and boxcar proceed onto the
Freehold Secondary for delivery to the Howell lumberyard. |
|
A cool October 2000
morning finds CSX sub-lettered GP40-2 4422 and a GP15-1 travelling toward
Farmingdale. This photo is a quarter-mile south of the Route 33/34
overpass In Howell. |
|
This photo sees the
same train as above after it has crossed Route 547, near Routes 33 and
34. Both locomotives wear the Conrail Quality logo, something I will
miss seeing. |
|
After seperating some
of the cars, the train approaches Farmingdale to drop off some cars in
Howell. |
|
In this photo, the train
departs the Southern Secondary for the Freehold Secondary. |
|
After dropping off and
picking up freight cars from the lumberyard, the train backs onto the Southern
Secondary. |
|
The final shot of this
sequence. The crew backs the train past the Route 524/547 crossing
and reconnects the train. Call it a day for them at this point. |
|
This November 2000 photos
sees newly painted CSX GP40-2 4402 (ex-Conrail) laying over in Lakewood,
not Lakehurst as what usually happens. In this photo, you can see
the result of the recently completed trackwork in this area. |
|
Here is another angle
of the above locomotive. As of December, the Southern Secondary has
not seen any NS painted locomotives. |
