Directions:

South parcel  --  located off of North Kent Road, directly adjacent to 1,146 acres of protected land owned by the National Park Service along the Appalachian Trail.

North parcel  --  located off of West Woods Road on the Kent/Sharon border. About 60 acres of the land lies in Sharon.


History:

2003 (5/20)  --  Kent Land Trust and the Trust for Public Land (TPL) announced their purchase of 245 acres on Skiff Mountain (the Skiff Mountain South parcel) in Kent from Kent School for $1.28 million.

In addition, TPL announced that it is buying approximately 200 acres (the Skiff Mountain North parcel) in Kent and Sharon from the school for $1.3 million.

1906 --  founding of the Kent School. 

1972  -- the Trust for Public Land (TPL), a national nonprofit conservation organization, founded.

1982  --  the Sharon Land Trust founded.

1989  --  the Kent Land Trust formed to help preserve the rural character of Kent.

The entire 445 acres will be owned and managed as conservation land. The Kent Land Trust will own the South parcel, and ownership of the North parcel will be divided between the Sharon Land Trust and the Kent Land Trust.


Wildlife:

bear, bobcat, and coyote, golden-winged warbler, blue-winged warbler, wood thrush.


Trails:

There are many trails for hiking, cross-country skiing, and horseback riding. The parcels are separated by the Marvelwood School, an independent co-educational boarding and day school (formerly the Kent Girls School campus).
