Housatonic River (junction of Rts. 7 & 55)

Route 7, Gaylordsville, New Milford, Litchfield County, New York

Directions:

Route 7 north into New Milford; just before approaching the bridge (just before reaching the junction with Route 55), turn right at the southern end of the bridge and drive down to near the river and make a right turn into the parking area. 

Trails:

8/17/2005.   On a beautiful day (just a little warm but not worth complaining about), Ceferino Santana, dog Sonar and I parked near the Housatonic River in Gaylordsville.  We walked down by the river, then under the bridge to its other side, walked in front of the bridge abutment along the River, and back to the parking lot.  From here we walked on a short path heading east with the woods edge on the left and corn fields on the right.  There were quite a few plants in bloom along the river.   It was just a short stop.  This is a fishing access point and there was one fellow fishing by the bridge.  Dr. Patrick L.
