History:
1965 -- Frank A. Harden left an estate in Lanesville for what became Harrybrooke Park.
Trails:
7/30/05. On a warm, sunny day, Rosemary Cooney, Ceferino Santana, dog Sonar and I parked at the parking area of the park that is completely outside the park itself. We examined the area of the parking lot with its fields, woods edge and river floodplain. Cefe then watched the dog while Rosemary and I went in for a quick walk-around.
There is a short, paved road heading into the main area of the park with woods edge and railroad tracks on the left and the Still River on the right. When one enters into the main park area, one realizes that this is a big park It is mostly lawn with a picnic pavilion and kids' playground. We also saw a small pond, fenced in to try to save some of the pond edge vegetation.
We saw a bridge connecting to the other side of Still River. Cars can come into the park from this entrance.
There is a very nice area of small waterfalls and lots of white water as the river descends quickly over bear rock ledges heading northeast.
We did not walk around the entire perimeter, probably because it is a manicured park.
Our next stop was the Bridgewater Town Park. Dr. Patrick L. Cooney.
