Brookland Preserve
Sherman, Fairfield County, Connecticut
60-acre forested preserve
Directions:
US 84 east to exit 5; turn left onto Route 35 north; drive 19.4 miles on Route 39 north to make a left turn onto Church Road; drive 0.3 of a mile (passing by the Congregational Church) and turn right onto Crooked Furrows Lane. Follow the curvy dirt road for about 0.3 of a mile and park at the preserve entrance on the right by the trail markers.
Geology:
The preserve has sections of Naromi Brook (also known by its Indian name, Naromiyocknowhusunkatankshunk) running through it.
Trails:
Starting in the southwestern section of the preserve, the trail heads northeast along the shores of the Naromi Brook. It reaches a rough figure-8 trail pattern in the southeastern part of the preserve. Heading off this figure 8 is the trail connecting to the Babbling Brooks Trail of Babbling Brooks Preserve.
Pick up a map of many of the Naromi Trust lands on the second floor of the Old Store Museum and Gift Shop at the intersection of Route 37 and Saw Mill Road in Sherman Center.
