Harold G. Hoffman (1896-1954) later became governor of the State of New Jersey from 1935-1938. He had a turbulent three years in office. He presided over the passage of the state's first sales tax and accused the State Police of bungling the Lindbergh Kidnapping case. He went as far as to meet with Bruno Hauptman and begin his own investigation, but in the end he did not block his execution.
