PREPARATION FOR OPERATION
The six proper circuit breakers alone aare on with the engine running.
The engine control switch (EC) is in either STANDBY or PASSENGER RUN position. The EC switch must be in PASSENGER RUN position if the train is to be moved without first removing the Auxiliary Power Supply.
NOTE 2 : If the two phase lights come on and off repeatedly while the Generator Excitation Start button is held closed :
"Over Voltage" condition may exist.
NOTE 3 : If the two phase lights come on and off repeatedly while the Generator Excitation Start button is released :
Hold the Generator Excitation Start button in for a slightly longer time.
"Over Frequency" or "Under Frequency" condition exists.
Generator excitation malfunction.
Push the Power Breaker Close button and hold until the red Breaker Closed pilot light comes on.
NOTE : If the red light does not come on and the alarm bell does not ring, check that the yellow Trainline Complete light is on.
BEFORE MOVING LOCOMOTIVE AND TRAIN
WARNING : IF CHANGING FROM STANDBY TO A RUNNING MODE OF OPERATION, BE SURE THAT AUXILIARY POWER IS OFF, THE THROTTLE HANDLE IS IN IDLE, AND THE REVERSE HANDLE IS IN OFF POSITION BEFORE CHANGING POSITION OF THE ENGINE CONTROL SWITCH.
