D-1 FOOT VALVE (See Figure 1)
This foot valve, located at the operator's position, must be depressed at all times during locomotive operation. If the operator's foot is removed from the foot valve for longer than five seconds, a warning whistle will sound, power is reduced, and brakes will apply at a SERVICE rate.
CUT-OUT COCKS
At specified inspection or maintenance periods, the following manually operated devices are used :
Main Reservoir Cut-out Cock : Located on the right side of the locomotive near the rear main reservoir.
Main Reservoir Drain Cocks - One located on the end of each main reservoir, usually part of automatic drain valves.
Air-filter Drain Cocks - Normally located at the rear of the fuel tank on the filter and on the auxiliary air filter at the front of the fuel tank.
Control-air Cut-out Cock - Located in the air brake compartment as part of the reducing valve.
Control-air Reservoir Drain Cock - Located in the air brake compartment on the rear wall.
Brake Cylinder Cut-out Cock - Located on the right side beneath the locomotive platform level (one for each truck).
