OPERATING CONTROLS
CONTROL CIRCUIT BREAKERS ON ENGINE CONTROL PANEL
A circuit breaker positioning chart is located across the top of the engine control panel above the circuit breakers. This chart indicated the required position for each breaker for each of the five modes of locomotive operation. The following circuit breakers are on the engine control panel :
END OF TRAIN SWITCH (Passenger Service Only)
The "end of train" switch is functional with the three-phase power jumper cables between the locomotive and all the cars in the train. The normal position of this switch is ON. It is pinned a safety sealed in this position as part of normal locomotive operation. If the locomotive should become disabled and emergency helper assistance is required by connecting another locomotive unit on the uncoupled end of the disabled unit, this switch should be moved to the OFF position and emergency operation of the locomotive should proceed as directed by railroad rules.
NOTE : Helper assistance must be with same model locomotive
CAUTION : AFTER THE DISABLED LOCOMOTIVE FAULT HAS BEEN CORRECTED, THE "END OF TRAIN" SWITCH SHOULD BE MOVED BACK TO THE ON POSITION AND SAFETY SEALED; OTHERWISE, THE JUMPER CABLE FUNCTION SAFETY FEATURE WILL BE NULLIFIED AND THE AUXILIARY POWER SUPPLY WILL NOT OPERATE.
