'die Lustige Blatter'

a German Humor Magazine

'Die Lustige Blatter' (the Funny Pages) was one of the most renowned of German humor magazines, of which it must be said, there were fewer of than in France. Nor did 'die Lustige Blatter' go in for the more naughty or alluding type of humor for which French and Parisian humor magazines were so well-known (and dissapproved of in many circles). Even so, the artwork in this magazine was of top quality, often printed in full color. The political commentary is somewhat more acidic and mean-hearted than in French humor magazines.

As with many magazines and publications, when the war started a new numbering sequence was started and all magazines were very visibly marked as war-time issues.
