'Die Illustrierte Weltschau' (the Illustrated World Observer) was a German weekly newsmagazine that was supplied as free supplement to the 'Flensburger Nachrichten'. Richly illustrated as its name implies, during the war years it contained a varied and large amount of news pertaining to the Great War. As with most German magazines for the home front, little was made of combat or great battles. Instead the relative comforts of German trenches and shelters was stressed as were sanitary and medical services for the benefit of the troops. The magazine was printed in two-tone color, which gave it a somewhat old-fashioned look, though overall it was in terms of content and illustrative material, quite modern in appearance compared to most other German war-time magazines.
