Around the War in 80 Postcards

 

 

The battle of Haelen occured during the Belgian retreat from Liege to Antwerp.
German forces were unexpectedly routed by a Belgian detachment. It was not a large scale engagement
but being a Belgian victory, much was made of it in the British press and in Belgium after the war.
