Burd Street

13 Burd Street

For an interesting side trip, turn south on Burd Street toward Academy Avenue. On the east side of Burd Street is a group of vernacular houses in the Italianate and Homestead styles built circa 1850 to 1875, most likely for workers employed locally by: the Pennington School, a steam saw mill (located on what is now Pennington School property) and Isaac Bergen, a harness maker, carriage maker and blacksmith, whose business was located on the north side of West Delaware Avenue.
