Council Shoulder Patches
George Washington Council

Samples of shoulder patches issued by George Washington Council. There appear to have been six distinct shoulder patches issued by Council (not all are shown). You may click on any of the above patches for more detail.

A number of variations exist for several of the patches. When Council re-orders patches differences in color or thread can occur. Probably no one knows exactly how many variations exist. A note from Dr. Larry Gering discusses the history of patches within the council, starting from the mid-1940s.

Acknowledgement:
Thanks to Robert W. Sulia for allowing me to photograph part of his collection of Council Shoulder Patches. Do you have some history or samples of patches that should be added to this collection?

About the color:
The color in some of the patches is poor. The background color, except for those patches with obvious red background, should be white, not some strange greenish tint. The patches that I photographed were old and stained, and some of the colors did not transfer well. I hope to improve this sometime (it's on my list). Can you provide better scans?
