1916 |
Troop 1 formed, sponsored by the First Baptist Church. John Tracy Dill first Scoutmaster, serving 28 years until his death. |
1918 |
World War I, Troop helped with the sale of War Bonds. |
1918 |
Morgan Explosion, members active in establishing soup kitchens, furnishing cots, etc. (note: This refers to the Morgan Ordinance Plant, which made explosive shells for the military artillary. In 1918, there was a series of explosions at the plant, devastating a significant part of South Amboy in a terrible tragedy.) |
1919 |
Perth Amboy Council chartered. |
1925 |
Camp Dill established by interested members of the Old Timers. |
1935 |
Fieldstone cabin started at camp. All construction was done by members and former members of Troop 91. |
1937 |
Former members of the troop establish the Camp Dill Foundation and take over the ownership and management of the camp. |
1941 |
World War II begins. Tons of paper were gathered for which all registered Scouts received the General MacArthur Award. Also, members of the troop acted as messengers during air raid drills. |
1946 |
Cabin completed and still in use. |
1950 |
Helped during the explosion. Also, during the many hurricanes in our area. |
1960 |
Plaque in memory of John Tracy Dill was given the place of honor above the fireplace in the cabin. |
1966 |
Troop 91 celebrated its 50th Anniversary with a banquet held at Christ Church Hall. |
1966 |
Memorial plaque in honor of Carl Skow, and all other scouters who served the Troop in a manner warranting recognition, dedicated during the August encampment. |
1976 |
Troop 91 awards six Eagle Scout Awards at one Court of Honor. |
1978 |
Carl T. Dowling Award established to be awarded each year to an outstanding Scout. |
1991 |
Troop 91 celebrates its 75th anniversary with a banquet held at Christ Church Hall. Many former members attend, including Congressman Ted Weiss of NY and actor Greg Evigan. |
