Comments on J. T. McAllister, The Virginia Militia in the Revolutionary War

He does not document the exact source of each of the 250 pension statements abstracted in part II of his book, they are merely given "Section" numbers by him in this book. They appear to be pension application abstracts; McAllister states that they were mainly taken from court records in the county where the original proofs and oaths were taken, supplemented in some cases by information from the Bureau of Pensions in Washington, DC.
In Part I, McAllister lists a summary of Virginia militia companies, by county, Captain and dates and places of service. I abstracted the company names, county and Captain of the companies he reports served at the Battle of Camden from these lists.
In Part III, McAllister lists the Virginia Militia officers in the Revolution.
In Part IV, he lists Pensioners residing in Virginia in 1835 receiving pensions as Virginia Militiamen and in Part V, McAllister lists pensioners residing outside Virginia in 1835 receiving pensions as Virginia Militiamen.
