CANTERBURY CEMETERY

NZ - 26
UNIDENTIFIED - 1

HISTORY

Made in 1919, the cemetery takes its name from the fact that the majority of the burials are men of the Canterbury Mounted Rifles. It is the only cemetery at Gallipoli where there are no inscriptions on any of the headstones.

LOCATION

Canterbury Cemetery will be found in ANZAC Cove, which is the midmost of the three areas into which the fighting on Gallipoli, and the cemeteries on the Peninsula, are divided. It is well signposted as you enter the main ANZAC area, and is close to the CWGC base camp.
