D-8 / D-12

D-8

In 1931/32 a follow up to the BA-27M was developed at the Izhorskiy factory in Kolpino. They were to be based on the GAZ-A chassis. The first design to appear was the D-8, having a simple open-topped design. It had a two-man crew sitting back to back so that the rear man could fire a rear-mounted machine-gun. A small number were built from 1932 to 1934.

D-12

In the same time as the D-8 were manufactured the D-12 also entered production. It had a longer wheel base and a small turret. They were both intended for scounting roles, but their heavy weight made them roadbound.
