"Battery E, 340th Artillery, 89th Division firing a 10-gun salute as part of the commemorative exercises in honor of ex-President [Theodore] Roosevelt, whose death had just been announced. Near Prum, Germany, Jan 8th, 1919." --Lt. Col. George H. English, Official Historian, War Society of the 89th Division. The 340th Artillery saw action at the Battle of St. Mihiel, the Meuse-Argonne offensive of World War I.
