Churchill used to preach in the Main Street building, known as the tabernacle. It had pews, stained-glass windows and a huge cross near the top. Near the back of that house of worship was a carriage house used as a radio studio for pioneering rock disc jockey George "Hound Dog" Lorenz, who played rock and R&B music with a religious fervor. The Hound became a national celebrity and Buffalo's first great rock 'n' roll radio personality. The tabernacle later became the television studio for WKBW-TV. WKBW Radio went on to dominate music in Buffalo radio until 1988. In 2003 KB returned with an oldies format after almost 15 years of unsuccessful news/sports programming. Suddenly on February 6, 2006 WWKB dropped this notable experiment and again changed their format to left wing talk radio. WKBW, R.I.P.

WKBW Radio became a 24 hour top 40 station
on July 4, 1958 and played Rock 'n Roll tunes until 1988
