WKBW Radio
Identification Jingles

Keep the identifier (WKBW) in front of the listeners at all times! Of course radio being a media of sound, the only way to insure listeners know what station they are listening to is to provide catchy jingles and interesting spots featuring the station's call letters. Dead air is a sure fire way to have the casual listener press that car radio button and become a non-listener. It's all in the ratings! Program directors historically used those station ID jingles to fill-in while the DJs prepare to spin another record or as a lead-in to a commercial. Outgoing as the KB DJs were, many would use the jingles to continue their banter. Literally hundreds of jingles were used by WKBW Radio. At the time they may have seemed insignificant  but after so many years we can finally appreciate those great promotional spots.

Radio station ID jingles are big business throughout the country. Not only do they identify the station but many times the station's programming format. Interesting enough, radio ID jingles were written and produced reflecting their times. The jingles of the 70's sound nothing like those of the 50's and modern jingles sound more sophisticated than their cousins of the 60's. One of the largest and best known radio jingle producers is PAMS Productions, Inc. This Dallas, Texas based production company has produced radio jingles for most radio station across the country and many foreign stations. We all owe them a "thank you" for giving us lasting memories of our favorite radio stations. Many of the  following audio clips were produced by PAMS Productions. So sit back, grab that mouse and click your way back to the good times of WKBW Radio, your youth and rock 'n roll!
