In Russia, the 7 round 7.62mm caliber (three lines) Nagant revolver
entered service in 1895. Only the self-cocking version of the revolver was in
service with the Red and the Soviet Army. It was officially called "Revolver
Model 1895". This was the very revolver that became nicknamed "nagant"
from the times of old.
