The Log Book -
|
The DOL site is evolving rapidly and traffic has increased to the point
where most of our efforts are being directed at the scores of emailed
contributions. Emails need to be answered and photos and text posted.
We are holding our own now that we have four part-time webmasters
working but unfortunately this log file has been neglected. It is
not being ignored due to disinterest though. When our front page
counter was activated five months ago we were already getting hits
at 20,000 per year. We are now running at a hit rate of 60,000
per year.
It's just a good thing that we enjoy our work :)

Yes, good thing!
This page has been neglected for a real long time, and quite frankly,
I'm not sure when we will have time to update everything; I
came here today to repair some broken links.
Nevertheless, our current traffic amounts to 18,000 new
visitors evey day. We do enjoy this endeavor and hope we can contribute
to a topic you hold special too.

Notices
- DOL now has an associate webmaster handling all pages and emails concerning
the Frigates.
His name is
Mark Roberts.
- Now when you see the word "Information" hyperlinked after a ship's
name, you will find a page of information on that ship. Once sufficient
information has been gathered a full set of pages will be
built.
- Check out the
Contributors Section where Tin Can sailors are invited to build
their own Navy web page by simply emailing their experiences in. This
includes photos as well.
- A general revision is being instituted to all pages converting BGCOLOR
(Background Color) to code FFFFFF (all white). The new DOL logo is also
being added to each page.
- All photos are being reworked by PhotoImpact 3.0 from Ulead. Sizes are
being cut considerably so if you have downloaded any please download again
to take advantage of the new smaller sizes. Other photo features are also
being changed such as dimensions and pixel density.
Borders and shadowing are being
added as well.
- Currently no ships are being added to the queue.
- DOL would be happy to help former crew members put their own ships OnLine.
We can provide advice and post hyperlinks to any sites on DDs of the past.
