Rice who was assigned to the Howorth from it's commissioning until just before it was pickled. He has received a letter from Larry Nelson and that is what brought us to your web site. Larry mentioned a book called "Good Night Officially." Have you heard of it? I hope to put some notes together to contribute to the journal. My dad does recall a night off of Mindoro after the radar unit had been hit by an airplane. The radar screen was damaged and was teetering back and forth until the stroke of midnight when it finally decided to give up and it fell into the sea without hurting anyone.
