Subject: WWII -era Destroyer

Hello--

Attached are scans of some pictures that my grandfather took while he was serving in the USAAF during WWII. I *think* it's a Benson-class destroyer, based on the pictures I saw on your web-page. Your page also mentioned that you're looking for pictures and information on the Benson, so I thought I'd send them on to you. You can use them if you want... my grandfather's dead now, so I don't think he'll mind.

The pictures were taken from a B-24 on anti-submarine patrol somewhere in the Carribean. The date and time are November 23, 10:26 am (I'm afraid I don't know the year). This ship, whatever it was, was escorting CVE 59 Mission Bay (ex Atheling); I have a few nice pictures of her where you can see a hull-number and everything.

-Mike
