Richard,
I served on the JRC from March 6, 1976 till August 18, 1977, when I was
discharged. I have an old postcard that was sold in the ship's store. I'll
be happy to scan it at work and send it to you.
If there is anything else that I can help you with, please let me know.
Seeing the picture of the Craig in Portland brought back a lot of memories.
Portland has the sweetest girls in the world and they love the Navy! I
still live in San Diego, homeport of the Craig and DesRon 27.

Rich,
I scanned this photo of the Craig at 300 dpi. You can sample it down to
whatever is appropriate for the web site. The year is unknown to me, but it
must be sometime after 1961 when the ship was "FRAM" modified with a
thirty-foot section added amidships. Just as a matter of interest, the
Craig was named after a MM on the USS Grampus (SS 207) which was sunk on
March 5, 1943. Check out this site for more on the Grampus:
http://www.subnet.com/mf207.htm. You have got to see the site at:
http://www.uconect.net/~bosamar/home.html. It is a good one! It is also
interesting that Chief of Naval Operations Mike Boorda, who tragically took
his own life last year, served as Weapons Officer on the Craig in the early
1960's.
You have really done a great job with your site. It is continually amazing
to see the inventiveness and creativity that people display. Please keep up
the good work.
