Richard, I can provide the names of other crew members during the 1970 -1972 time period. Are you interested or do they have to submit for themselves? I feel kind of naked up there by myself! The CO in 1970 - 1971 was then CDR Richard E. Berry (now RADM Berry). Weapons Officer - LT Donald Hess, Fire Control Officer - Lt Richard Greene, Missile Officer - LTJG Donald Gunn, Systems CPO FTCS James "Red" Royal. FTM1 Chuck Carter headed the radar gang, FTG1 Joe Puls headed up the gun plot group. FTM2 John Lacey headed weapons direction. GMM1 Wilkerson had the missile group. FTMC Carl Slack came on in early 1972 as my relief. STGC John Barone headed up the Sonar gang. CDR Fernald relieved ADM Berry in Nov 71 in Venice. I'm embarassed to admit that I really don't remember many more of the crew than that. I can name almost the entire crew from USS DECATUR (DDG 31)(plank owner) 1966-1969 and most of the guys from USS BARNEY (1976-1979) but for some reason, the GUS boat draws blanks. Any interest in either of the other ships? Dick Willis _______ I have cruise books for USS DECATUR DDG-31 with tons of pictures and just happen to have a scanner :>}. I'd be glad to see her on line. I'm sure you're aware that she is still in service out at Pt. Mugu as the Navy's surface weapons test platform; not commissioned! Also have some super pictures of USS BARNEY trying to do the "silent service" thing. We were caught short of fuel in a hurricane and the JO on the carrier snapped some great action shots. I'll try to put something together this weekend. Dick
