I was assigned to the crew about May 1945 in Norfolk, Va. We then left for Orange, Texas I think in July and commissioned the 885 August 20, 1945. I was transfered to the USS Brinkley Bass, DD887, Sept. 29, 1947. I received an Honorable Discharge from the US Navy on the 16 of Oct. 1947.
