Return-Path: I am looking for any info you might have on the Uss Hartley De-1029. I cannot seem to find anything about this anywhere on the net. Could you Email me if you know where I can find this. I served on this ship in Newport Naval Base Newport Rhode Island in the early 70's.
Return-Path: Richard, loved seeing my name on the web. What I remember the most about the Hartley was the day we were coming in from a 28 day cruise to Bermuda. A friend of mine and me were standing up near the front guns watching as the ship pulled into Newport Navy Base. We never found out what happened, but all of a sudden we slammed into another ship that was tied up at the berth. It"s prop guard ripping a large hole the length of the refer compartment. I guess this was the date in June that it was struck! My friends name was Kenny Royal, a big Black guy from new orleans who played football for LSU. Another friend was Hamilton Bobb, who was from ST. Thomas VI Maybe they're out there in cyberland. Hope to hear from you again, or my two friends. Thanks for the web page.
