I just found your site! I love it. I was looking for the new Tin Can
Sailor site, but found this via a destroyer page! I am making a
documentary about Tin Can Sailors and am collecting video interviews.
Shipboard life in key. Also interviews from battle vets and etc., but
the overall feel of life aboard tin cans is the emphasis. Could use some
good 8mm super 8mm film if anyone has any. Will transfer up to 400 feet
for free to video for sailors who are willing to send me the film and $5
return postage. I'll send back the film and a vhs copy. I need the ship
footage from normal people who had film cameras. I will provide a
release form as well and will provide credit to contributors in our
video documentary.
I am a member of the New Jersey Tin Can Sailors and served in USS
O'Callahan DE-1051 , 1971-74. Maybe I can get my ship together for this
site as well. I am impressed.
We recently completed a video documentary about USS Houston CA-30, lost
in Java Sea, March 1, 1942. Presented the survivors with the documentary
on 55th anniversary Memorial Service in Houston last week. Commercial
version will be available in two weeks. Any suggestions on where we
should be advertising would be welcomed. A web site is dedicated to this
project and can be found at http:/www.grade-a.com/houston
I hope you will take a look.
Reviews are starting to come in. Looks like we did it right and praise
is really high. Very high, actually. Not bad for our very first
documentary and company that is only 3 years old!
