VERMONT RAILWAY

This page will cover the Vermont Railway.  Born following the shut down of the Rutland Railroad in the very early 1960's, the VTR assumed operation of the main spine of the former Rutland.  From Burlington, Vermont's largest city, running south along the western edge of the state to Rutland and then further south to North Bennington and a connection with the Boston & Maine.

vtr801burlington.jpg (100308 bytes)  Vermont has been very aggressive recently in promoting passenger trains.  One operation was a local service running on the VTR.  This GP18 is pushing a set of Budd built stainless steel cars back to the yard following a day of shuttle trips.  I understand this service has been suspended.
