THE MISCELLANEOUS PAGE
This page will consist of anything that just plain doesn't
fit anywhere else. Shortlines, scrap yards, industrial operations,
military and European trains. I won't have any particular order to this
page, so here goes......
A very short line in Rhode Island was the Naraghanssett Pier Railroad. All images at Peace Dale, RI.
The railroad no longer exists, however I believe that depot is still
standing. June 1978.
Located in a south side industrial area in the city of Baltimore, Maryland was a scrap company known as Striegals. Many a diesel locomotive met its demise here. Today the company is long gone and what is there now is unknown to me.
These are images from two separate stops in 1978 and 1981. Quite mixed bag of interesting stuff !!
PRR E7A's and B-units, a PRR RS-1 and FM, a CNJ SW-1, an EL E8A, a SCL Baldwin and other critters.
The Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad
Taken in 1974, this the small shop town of Albion, PA.
A grubby day visit to Greenville, PA in 1992.
A nicer day in the fall of 1992 at North Bessemer, PA
The Columbus and Greenville
At the time of my visit on March 31, 1977, this shortline was
an obscure east-west line across Mississippi. It's big claim to fame
in those years was their fleet of Baldwin diesels. Included were several
six axle units needed to ride over the poor track. Today, this
line is part of the Kansas City Southern's Meridian Speedway connecting their
Texas lines and the Norfolk Southern in Alabama.
What I believe is a former TRRA Railroad SW-1 sits in Columbus, MS.
Painted in a Great Northern like scheme of green and orange is AS-616 603.
AS-416 606 is coupled to a caboose painted in the new bright blue colors.
Freshly painted 601 shares the roundhouse with rust-bucket 605. Unfortunately 601 was not running.
The Green Bay and Western was an Alco stronghold until its merger with the WC. 323 works at Merrillan, WI in 1992.
313 is on the other end of this set.
Obviously, much more to follow................
