This page will cover the former PRR mainline west of the famous Horseshoe Curve.
The now closed "MG" tower is a short distance west of the curve.
A pair of former Erie-Lackawanna SD45-2's now assigned as pusher sets out of
Altoona pass the tower.
An eastbound rolls downgrade with a pair of SD45's assisting with their dynamic
brakes.
Amtrak F40 268 brings the three car 'Pennsylvanian' westbound by the tower.
A slow heavy train is overtaken by a faster piggyback at the curve commonly
known as 'Benny's Curve'.
Another westbound struggling up the mountain while helper sets drift back down
for their next push..
Two pairs of the former Erie-Lackawanna SD45-2's assist this train to the top of
the mountain.
'MO' tower sitting at its trackside location in Cresson, June of 1985. It
has since been preserved and relocated nearby.
GP40 3326 begins to pull west at Cresson having had the helpers cut off.
GP40 3298 is eastbound near Summerhill climbing the west slope toward Cresson
and Gallitzin.

This helper set has remained on this westbound to both assist in braking and no
doubt to push an eastbound up the hill back to Altoona.
An eastbound working through South Fork.
This helper set is getting a train together in Johnstown for a trip east.
GP38 8164 leads an empty rail train passing "C" tower in Johnstown,
PA.
