BRITISH COLUMBIA RAILWAY
This page is from my visit to the railway on May 18, 1979. I took the RDC train from North Vancouver to Lilloet, BC. The BCR offered daily service to there plus service three times per week north of Lilloet to Prince George.
Enroute north we are passing a northbound freight which would soon arrive at Lilloet.
This nice pair of RDC's provided an essential local service to many of the residents along the line that had little alternatives. On the day of my visit, there were local elections being held by the native Indian tribes resulting in a full train arriving at Lilloet.
RS-3 577 was assigned to the modest yard here.
The primary power on the railroad at the time was a contingent of big MLW M630's.
The freight we passed earlier has arrived and will make a setout. Note the boxcar with the railroads old name still there.
RS-18 609 is the fourth unit in the consist.
Following the setout, the units were refueled for the trip north to Prince George.
Back on their train and pumping up the air.
One this day the return train to North Vancouver came down from Prince George. The two RDC cars were combined with the two cars off train #1 and the four car set headed south. The crowd from the elections filled all four cars.
A friendly conductor allowed a dutch-door ride.
