This reunion ribbon was given to members of the "Rough Riders" (1st U.S. Volunteer Cavalry) which had served in Cuba under Theodore Roosevelt. This ribbon is for the first reunion, held in Las Vegas, New Mexico in 1899. At this event, the National Association of Roosevelt Rough Riders was created. The event drew 600 members of the regiment, including Roosevelt himself, then governor of New York. Reunions were held in August of each year in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
This particular ribbon was owned by Rough Rider Lyman E. White of G Troop.
The last Rough Rider was Jesse D. Langdon.
