The Average American Soldier in the
Spanish American War

According to the U.S. government reports, the average U.S. soldier in the Spanish American War had the following characteristics, based on a study of 9,226 random troops:

Height:    67.59 inches

Weight:    147.07 pounds

Average chest measurement: 37.38 inches

Average age:    27.6 years of age
