Below is the obituary for George L. Sparks of the 2nd Texas Infantry, Co. M. He was buried at Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery, Tucumcari, Quay County, New Mexico.

George L. Sparks, 81, died Monday morning at 9 o’clock in his home at 1113 S. Third St., after an extended illness.
 
Sparks was a retired Southern Pacific yardmaster and a Spanish American War veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Minnie Sparks, of Tucumcari; four daughters Mrs. Charles Bowen of Tucumcari, Mrs. Leroy Cerny of Houston, Tex., Mrs. Jack Riener of Oklahoma City,Okla. And Mrs. Alberta Ewers of Alice Tex.; four sisters, Miss Teresa Sparks and Mrs. Charles Udell of Houston, Tex., Mrs. Milam Klease of New Braunsfels, Tex. and Mrs. B. Schoenert of San Antonio, Tex.;and five grandchildren.
 
The deceased has been a resident of Tucumcari since 1918. He was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church, a Disabled American Veteran and member of Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.
 
Rosary services will be recited at 8:30 this evening in the Doughty Funeral Chapel and Requiem High Mass will be in St. Anne’s Catholic Church Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father Carl Hammer officiating at both services.

Pall bearers will be Claude Wingrove, H.O. Fenter, Everett Schlienttz, D.B. Lebow, R.E. Batten and D.V. Vinall.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars will give the flag presentation and Taps at a graveside ceremony.

Internment will be in the Garden of Prayer in Tucumcari Memorial Park, with the Doughty Funeral Home in charge of arrangments. The body will lie in state in the Doughty Funeral Home until time for funeral services Wednesday.
