A Roster of the 5th U.S. Volunteer Infantry, Company H

General:

The following is a roster of the 5th U.S. Volunteer Infantry, Company H. The unit was mustered in on June 24, 1898, at Columbus, Mississippi. On August 6,1898, the unit proceeded to Savannah, Georgia, for the purpose of embarking to Cuba. The Company left Savannah on August 10, arriving in Cuba 4 days later. The fighting had ended by an armistice on August 13, while the unit was enroute.

The unit left Santiago de Cuba for Guantianamo as mounted Infantry on March 20, 1899, arriving three days later. The company served in Cuba until May 3, 1899, arriving in New York on May 8. Company H was mustered out at Camp Meade, Pennsylvania on May 31, 1899.
