Travis' N-Scale Layout Detailed Information.

All Traack used is either Atlas Felx track or Atlas pre-made curves and streights.

On main layout, I used no road base. On room 2, I used the new foam road base.

All turnouts are Peco turnouts except 1. All are # 6's except 2 Peco #4's going out from the yard.

All turnouts from yard and on east wall are switched using piano wire underneath layout

All pines trees are made by my wife and I, from green and brown scrouring pads and toothpicks. Aspen trees made by me using babys breath and paint.

Some roads are 400 or 600 grit sandpaper, others are plaster.

450' bridge was scratch-built by me using some balsa wood, mostly bass wood. (did not keep track of hours I spent. - my wife says the 5 year bridge.)

Sidewalks are made from grey cardboard (Radio Shack packages) and balsa wood.

Most of background pictures or either mountians, or building (city) came from magazines.

Layout base is mostly particle board. Hanged from L brackets from wall.

Base in closets are particle board mounted with braces underneath.

Base for room 2 is melamine shelving board using the Grip brackets to hide the wires and support the shelf.

Buildings are either kits, kit bashed, used building, prebuilt, scratch-built. also mix and match kits.

Automobiles are N-scale size cars from Bachumann, lifelike, Classic Metal Works and others, some are Micro Machines.

Street signs are made from computer.

All towns, counties, streets, lakes, rivers, businesses are named after family, friends or pets.
