The Sparrow Song

The Sparrow song was first sung during an Annual Camp in about the mid-1970's by Tom Moke of 4(G) Medium Battery, as a reply to a bawdy 161 Battery song. The tune was an immediate hit with all of the Gunners of 16th Field Regiment and is still sung today. It is always sung with much harmonising, and hilarious seriousness.

Don't scare those sparrows a-way!
Don't scare those sparrows a-way!
Throw them some crumbs...
For they are your chums,
You might be a sparrow one day!

"Second verse same as the first!"

Don't scare those sparrows a-way!
No! No! No!
Don't scare those sparrows a-way!
No! No! No!
Throw them some crumbs...
For they are your chums,
You might be a sparrow ONE D-A-Y!!!
