Through a series of amazing accidents combined with benign neglect, the Royal Navy's first ironclad warship, H.M.S. Warrior has survived over a century and has been meticulously restored to original condition. Docked at Portsmouth, England near Nelson's Victory, the Warrior is a shrine to Victorian technical achievement.

The absolute best way to view the Warrior online is to take the virtual tour of the Warrior provided by St. Vincent College. Facts and photos are combined to make a very pleasing experience of the ship.

From the Third International Conference on the Technical Aspects of the Preservation of Historic Vessels, there is a paper on the Warrior's rigging by Captain T Fraser Morgan, MRIN, MNI.

A civilian near-contemporary of the Warrior's is preserved in Bristol, England. Isambard Brunel's revolutionary passenger liner the S.S. Great Britain is now berthed in her original building dock. An operational and financial failure, the ship was stranded in the Falkland Islands for years. The Great Britain is now being restored and opened to vistors. Her First Class Dining Saloon is now available as a banqueting facility.
