T A L E S O F T H E B I Z A R R E --------- --- ----- ------------- 1995/1997 First Show: 08 Dec, 1995 Last Show: 12 Jan, 1996 Number Shows: 6 Audition Show: none Series Description: The stories of Ray Bradbury have graced the airwaves since May 17, 1946 when "Killer, Come Back To Me" aired on the Molle Mystery Theater. There were 2 series entitles TALES OF THE BIZARRE presented by The British Braodcasting Corporation. Both consisted of 6 30-minute shows. All stories were dramatizations of the works of Ray Bradbury. Each show features a brief introduction by Ray Bradbury, often relating how the story came to be. Two of the six shows in the first series have been done before. "Night Call Collect" was done in BRADBURY 13 on National Public Radio, in 1984. "I Sing the Body Electric" aired on the CBC Playhouse (Canada) in 1973. "The Jar", from the first series, tells of a man who wants respect and what he'll do to get, and keep, it. "The Fruit At The Bottom of the Bowl" is a psychological study of a murderer. "Night Call Collect" is a science fiction tale of the last man on Mars and another man on Mars who wants him dead. "Have I Got A Chocolate Bar For You" tells of a priest in his confessional and a man fighting an addiction. "I Sing The Body Electric" is the story of three children who've lost their mother and seek a replacement. "Skeleton" tells a tale of a man at war with his skeleton. The second series also featured stories that were adapted before. "And So Died Riabouchinska" was heard as "Riabouchinska" in SUSPENSE (US) on November 13, 1946. "The Day It Rained Forever" was done on December 3, 1973 in the CBC PLAYHOUSE. "The Wind" aired on October 30, 1949 on the RADIO CITY PLAYHOUSE and on June 17, 1984 on BRADBURY 13 (US). All are well-acted and well-produced, an enjoyable treat for fans of Ray Bradbury.
