The Trust for Public Land helped New York State create the preserve.

There are wetlands near the mouth of Moodna Creek near Sloop Hill.


History:

sometime between 1641 and 1654 to 1689  --  the life of Scottish emigrant David Toshoch/Toshack. 

1684  --  David and his party traveled to America.  Along with his brother-in-law Patrick MacGregorie, David established and operated a fur trading post by Moodna Creek on Sloop Hill.

1689  --  David continued operating the trading post until his death in this year.
