LONG PATH (PIERMONT THRU ROCKLAND CEMETERY)
Rockland County, NY
Directions:
TZ bridge; 9W south; at just a little south of 10:34 mileage marker turn left and head downhill via Ash Street; you can go all the way down and then hike back up following the tourgoise blazes of the Long Path; or you can cheat (Ash Street, turn right on Piermont Avenue, and right onto Crescent Road?) We parked here at the end of the street. It did not say not to.(?)
Headed straight (southwest) past a house and then made a right turn (northwest) to Route 9W; crossed the dangerous highway and then went right on the other side to Castle Road; walk up Castle Road to its dead end; turn right behind the gate and go up and into the woods; lots of houses along the way on Castle Road; path takes you to Rockland Cemetery and even past the grave stones of John Charles Fremont, the Pathfinder. You walk through Rockland Cemetery and then into the woods. This path will take you to Clausland.
History:
