Moodna Creek Marsh

History:

Revolutionary War – the historical homestead here was the dwelling place of one of General George Washington’s lieutenants. The home is adjacent to the Kowawese Unique Area.  The house is not open to the public.

2000 – The Scenic Hudson Land Trust conveyed 60 acres of the marsh to the DEC.

Scenic Hudson still retains the historic 1735 Squire Nicoll house and five acres.


Facilities:

One can take a canoe or kayak south on the Hudson River from the state-owned Kowawese Unique Area to the mouth of Moodna Creek and the historic homestead.
