LAKE MARGUERITE WILDLIFE REFUGE

Directions:

The park entrance is on Jonestown Road just a short drive northeast of the intersection of  Jonestown Road and Brass Castle Road (Route 623). (Just up from the Roaring Rock Restaurant; and across from mouth of Mountain Ridge Drive.)

The park is adjacent to Griffith Woods.


History:

1981  -- established with a donation of property by John Lundy.

Bridges and trail benches built and erected by students and faculty from Project Excel School.

A fishing derby for children 14 years and younger sponsored by the Junior Women’s Club held here in May.


Habitats:

open fields, woods, a small pond (about one acre), streams.


Trails:

0.7 mile of trails/roads with seven (7) bridges across streams.

Signs of beaver activity around the small pond.  In the pond, saw a speckled coy.
