Honey Run Wildlife Management Road

Located south of the Landing Strip at Swayzes Mills.

Directions:

US 80 west to the exit for Route 519 south; in the town of Hope turn right on Route 609 (Delaware Road); pass by Route 610 (Swayze Mill Road.); turn left onto Honey Road Run. The Wildlife Management is on both sides of the road. (Could not find an official entrance, but there are a couple of pull-offs along the left side of the road.)

Geology:

Honey Run goes through the Wildlife Management Area.

Trails:

6/26/04.  This was our third stop of the day (after visiting Columbia Wildlife Management Area and Columbia Lake).  We found three places on Honey Run Road where we could pull-off.  We parked at the middle one. We followed an old road downhill.  There were several beautiful blue spruce trees planted along this road.  It led to an abandoned small house, with several smaller attendant buildings.  The house is slowly being over-taken by vegetation. We had to push our way through the fields of flowers.  Then we went farther down hill to find a small pond virtually completely covered with duckweed. Explored around the area of the pond and then traveled uphill back to the car.
