History of Fredon Township

Sussex County, New Jersey


1737  --  the infamous Walking Purchase defrauded the Lenni-Lenape of the vital Minisink.  The Indians were so disturbed that they launched a series of raids throughout Northwest New Jersey, one of which penetrated to Fredon Township at Hunts Pond.

1904  --  Fredon Township was set off from Newton.  A part of Green Township also became Fredon Township.
